Oh flist and internet in general, I am sorry I have been ignoring you! Its just that life has gotten so hectic lately!
Second Job had
SIX PEOPLE quit in less than a week and so my life has been something like this:
- 7am: Get up!
- 8am - 5pm to 6ish: WORK
- 6ish to 11pm: WORK SECOND JOB
- 11:30 pm: maybe eat some dinner! maaaaybe.
- midnight: SLEEEEEEEEP
and then I get to do it ALL AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. D:
Last night was the first night I got to eat dinner at home IN EIGHT DAYS. And that was literally just dinner because for the next week I am pet and house sitting for my sister while she is in Mexico drinking blended drinks and snorkeling. I get to take care of her dog and her two cats and her house, though she was nice enough to give me access to their Netflix account and leave me food.
Let me see, other than work, I have been doing some fun things! Two weeks ago I went to my first Who night with a friend from high school and it was a blast. I earned eternal love for bringing awesome dip and Berry Weiss and siding with the Who watchers over Supernatural (sorry, ilu SPN, but not as much as Doctor Who!).
Last Thursday, straight from the register shift from hell, I went and saw the midnight showing of
Iron Man 2. Things I learned: just because something is promised in a trailer doesn't mean it happens in a film (I knew, but still..), I would for sure marry Pepper Potts, the first Rhody was WAY BETTER SHUT YOUR FACES, and do not, under any circumstances, wear a skirt to sit in the lobby of a movie theater for an hour. It doesn't work very well.
Last Friday my sister and I thoroughly annoyed Charlie by forcing him to watch
Fern Gully with us while we laughed at the HILARIOUS 'hip-hop inspired' soundtrack, how Robin Williams used Batty as a test run for Genie in
Aladdin, and mocked
Avatar for ripping off so many many scenes.
Saturday night I tagged along with Kristina, her sister and her mom (who is SO NICE) to see the hilarious Hal Sparks at the Improv. First of all, the Improv is not in Chicago, it is in the basement of Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, do not believe their lies! Secondly, Hal Sparks has earned my eternal devotion and a guaranteed spot on my 'must see' list whenever he is in town. I'd never seen his stand up before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. His comedy is intelligent and liberal and there were a lot of linguistics jokes which is guaranteed to make me think you are funny. That and bad puns (I blame my father).
Here is a hilariously awkward picture of me meeting him! And if you ever plan on going to the Improv, order the Blueberry Kiss martini. It not only tastes like fresh blueberries it is also blue. And delicious.
Sunday we took my Mom out for breakfast at the most amazing local breakfast place in existence, Egg Harbor. Then we went and got manicures and, for me, my first ever pedicure. It was more enjoyable than I thought it would be! I am surprised! (But don't tell my sister that). Then I worked! SHOCK. I was supposed to work 1 - 5pm which I was overjoyed about, but due to a giant conflagration of suck, ended up stuck there until 6:30. Wooooooo.
And! And! Last night I got my galley of
Tongue of Serpents by Naomi Novik (it is book 6 in the Temeraire series). I've already finished about a quarter of it and YES. That is all I can say, I am not supposed to review it until after it comes out
in July. Why send me something two months early and then tell me not to review it Del Rey? I am guessing I will have finished it before Thursday though, so I'm still going to have to track down a good plane book.
How have all of you been?
