Decided to post this so you guys could see what I've watched/am watching/gave up on. Anything on this list is up for questions, discussion or a request for a review/pimping post.

Also, I am always open for suggestions on what to watch next! I'm not posting my current list of that because there are.. something like 100 dramas on the list?

Dear fellow fandom members: where is all the woke up married fic?

After an exhaustive search¹ and extensive questioning of fellow fandom members² it has recently been uncovered³ that there is no multifandom reclist for the woke up married trope!

I'll pause for a moment to let that sink in for all of you.

What I propose to do is to make one. How can you help, I hear you asking? It's simple! Just go look through your bookmarks/delicious/memories, copy down the link, and post it here!4

I will make a reclist crossposted on my Livejournal and Dreamwidth of all the woke up married fics we can find. In addition, I have already made a delicious which will have everything tagged on it as well.

So send those woke up married fics you read or wrote or happened upon!

¹ or 20 minutes on delicious and google

² i.e. my twitter followers (so mainly sansets and zeenell actually)

³ decided by me

4 you can also reach me on twitter or by email midnightbex @ gmail [dot] com!

I know I've been neglectful of you this past year, friendslisters. Just know that during all my crazy schedules and family insanity, I always try to squeeze in time to catch up with your posts, even if I don't have time to reply or make a post of my own.

Have a wonder Holiday season, whatever you celebrate. May there be joy and comfort and the support you need whenever you need it.

In the new year I am going to figure out how to squeeze in a little more time for you and my poor neglected blog. Please friend me on twitter if you have one (and let me know so I can follow you back!) and have a JOYOUS Holiday season!

Not Dead!

dcu: be SERIOUS Bat man!
It's been a literal age since I last updated, sorry! Between both jobs and the crazy amount of stuff I've been doing I just haven't been feeling either very fanish or talkative.

I've been twittering a lot and skimming the ol' flist every once in awhile too, so I haven't disappeared of the face of the earth entirely.

First, I have ONE quick questions. Has anyone else fallen head first into Sherlock fandom? I really really have no idea where to find anything other than fic, I have become a fandom failure. *tear*

May 20th, my 25th birthday, was the last day I updated. I think that's the longest I've gone without posting since I got my livejournal in 2003!

Since that post I've been to:
Atlanta, Georgia
St. Louis, Missouri
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Indianapolis, Indiana
and all over the state of Illinois

I've attended:
(1) Warped Tour in Tinley Park, IL
(1) month of cake decorating classes
(6) Hanson shows all over the Midwest
(2) book clubs joined
(1) vacation trip to my long time best friend Kristen's new residence in Atlanta
(2) days of Chicago Comic Con (formerly Wizard World Chicago)
(1) drunken Sake tasting night
(2) midnight showings
and (1) wedding reception

In the next couple of months I have:
(3) days of SGA Con Chicago
(2) days of Middlewest Fest in Dekalb
(1) Dave Matthews Band and Jason Mraz concert at Wrigley Field
(5) days of International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago for work
(3) various other concerts to see (among others) fun., Steel Train, Empires, and DormLife
(3) days of American Gods Con @ House on the Rock
and possibly
(1) day of SPN Con (Mischa Collins!)
and (3) days of Tardis Con (Gareth David-Lloyd!)

Keep in mind that I've also been working an average of 60 hours a week, spending time with my family, rewatching the entirety of Supernatural (I'm almost done with S4!), attempting to stay up to date on all my summer television (including Dong Yi which is NINE MILLION EPISODES LONG), and you know, doing normal things like seeing movies, reading books, going to the comic shop, and feeding my music and coffee addictions.

One of these months I'm just going to nap for the whole thing and not go anywhere further than my desk at home.. which is at the end of my bed. Ah, dreams.

Gawker's The Justin Bieber Guide for Old People is my second favorite things currently on the internet for this alone:

Yes, Old People, it's time to wake up to our scary new world where a YouTube sensation has supplanted social justice as the only reason anyone riots, and you can be arrested for not tweeting. Welcome.

I'm sitting in Ohare right now eating pizza at Wolfgang Puck's. The pizza is great, but right now I love my Droid more.

I'll be out of town until Monday and I'm not planning on updating while I'm gone. However, I will be tweeting (often with pictures) this week. If you want to know what I'm up to, just follow me there, where I also go by midnightbex.

Oh flist and internet in general, I am sorry I have been ignoring you! Its just that life has gotten so hectic lately!

Second Job had SIX PEOPLE quit in less than a week and so my life has been something like this:

  • 7am: Get up!

  • 8am - 5pm to 6ish: WORK

  • 6ish to 11pm: WORK SECOND JOB

  • 11:30 pm: maybe eat some dinner! maaaaybe.

  • midnight: SLEEEEEEEEP

and then I get to do it ALL AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. D:

Last night was the first night I got to eat dinner at home IN EIGHT DAYS. And that was literally just dinner because for the next week I am pet and house sitting for my sister while she is in Mexico drinking blended drinks and snorkeling. I get to take care of her dog and her two cats and her house, though she was nice enough to give me access to their Netflix account and leave me food.

Let me see, other than work, I have been doing some fun things! Two weeks ago I went to my first Who night with a friend from high school and it was a blast. I earned eternal love for bringing awesome dip and Berry Weiss and siding with the Who watchers over Supernatural (sorry, ilu SPN, but not as much as Doctor Who!).

Last Thursday, straight from the register shift from hell, I went and saw the midnight showing of Iron Man 2. Things I learned: just because something is promised in a trailer doesn't mean it happens in a film (I knew, but still..), I would for sure marry Pepper Potts, the first Rhody was WAY BETTER SHUT YOUR FACES, and do not, under any circumstances, wear a skirt to sit in the lobby of a movie theater for an hour. It doesn't work very well.

Last Friday my sister and I thoroughly annoyed Charlie by forcing him to watch Fern Gully with us while we laughed at the HILARIOUS 'hip-hop inspired' soundtrack, how Robin Williams used Batty as a test run for Genie in Aladdin, and mocked Avatar for ripping off so many many scenes.

Saturday night I tagged along with Kristina, her sister and her mom (who is SO NICE) to see the hilarious Hal Sparks at the Improv. First of all, the Improv is not in Chicago, it is in the basement of Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, do not believe their lies! Secondly, Hal Sparks has earned my eternal devotion and a guaranteed spot on my 'must see' list whenever he is in town. I'd never seen his stand up before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. His comedy is intelligent and liberal and there were a lot of linguistics jokes which is guaranteed to make me think you are funny. That and bad puns (I blame my father). Here is a hilariously awkward picture of me meeting him! And if you ever plan on going to the Improv, order the Blueberry Kiss martini. It not only tastes like fresh blueberries it is also blue. And delicious.

Sunday we took my Mom out for breakfast at the most amazing local breakfast place in existence, Egg Harbor. Then we went and got manicures and, for me, my first ever pedicure. It was more enjoyable than I thought it would be! I am surprised! (But don't tell my sister that). Then I worked! SHOCK. I was supposed to work 1 - 5pm which I was overjoyed about, but due to a giant conflagration of suck, ended up stuck there until 6:30. Wooooooo.

And! And! Last night I got my galley of Tongue of Serpents by Naomi Novik (it is book 6 in the Temeraire series). I've already finished about a quarter of it and YES. That is all I can say, I am not supposed to review it until after it comes out in July. Why send me something two months early and then tell me not to review it Del Rey? I am guessing I will have finished it before Thursday though, so I'm still going to have to track down a good plane book.

How have all of you been?

Wow, I knew I forgot something on my list yesterday, but I am surprised at what it was. It is both something awesome and something I'm super excited about.

The amazing [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales will be having a book signing with the equally amazing Holly Black at Anderson's Bookstore in Naperville on May 17th!

I am terribly fond of [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales and have been a creepy lurker of hers since way back in the days of Harry Potter fandom at its craziest (..well, for me anyway). Aside from that obvious bias and my unending love of her book recommendations, her debut novel The Demon's Lexicon was easily my favorite book of last year. She has an amazing talent with words and is one of very few authors I've read who can make things both very serious and very funny at the same time.

So, if you're looking for a good book, read The Demon's Lexicon (and quick, the second book comes out May 18th!) and then go see [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales on her US Tour, in London, or in Ireland. If you happen to be going to the Anderson's event, let me know!

This year is shaping up to be a crazy one. So far I am:

  • May 8th - Seeing Hal Sparks at the Improv in Schaumburg

  • May 20th to 24th - Going to Atlanta to visit Kris and see Bamboozle Roadshow

  • August 5th - Hanson in St. Louis

  • August 12th - Hanson in Milwaukee

  • August 13th - Hanson in Chicago

  • August 14th - Hanson in Chicago pt II

  • August 16th - Hanson in Grand Rapids

  • August 24th - Hanson in Indianapolis

  • August 27th to 29th - SGA Con in Chicago

  • October 29th to 31st - Going to House on the Rock for the American Gods Con

and somewhere in there I have a wedding reception to attend and, uh, manage to work two jobs.

Clearly Kristina and Megan are a bad influence on me! (see me pass the blame!)
